In my continued quest to expand my written repertoire in hopes that someone will ultimately pay me for my words, I present you with a brand new blog endeavor. The “Celluloid Junkie,” is a manifestation of my love of films. It will contain reviews of movies I have seen recently. They may be new theater releases or older movies I have just seen (or re-watched). Since I am not doing this for anyone but myself and my adoring public, my one word of caution would be that the reviews contained herein will only be for movies I had an interest in seeing to begin with so if you are looking for someone to enlighten you on “The Twilight Saga” or the latest film version of a Nicholas Sparks book, I’m not your guy. Of course if I find myself in a relationship sometime in the near future and thus become contractually obligated to see some of these films, I suppose I will include them too.
That said I will probably include movies from all conceivable genres as I go along. Also do not think that this will be exercise in film snobbery devoted only to Academy darlings as I also fully intend to include my guilty pleasures such as zombie movies and other wacky stuff. Once you think you have a sense of the kinds of films I will put on here feel free to email me (chiggins24@gmail.com) with requests for reviews you’d like to see and if I get a chance to see the movie I will be more than happy to include them.
Lastly, my reviews will not employ any grading system as I think it is kind of lame and also causes potential readers to skip past the words and right to the rating or grade. I will also keep my description of the plot to the minimum necessary for background so as not to play spoiler. Naturally I don’t expect you to agree with me but I hope my thoughts help to guide your movie viewing choices. If you like what you read here please click on my profile and view “From Where I Sit,” which includes my thoughts on a wide range of subjects.
I hope you enjoy and happy viewing,
Chris
